The Auditor-General has the mandate to audit and report on the accounts of the National and County Governments under Article 229 of the Constitution and Public Audit Act, 2003. The objective of the audit exercise is to ensure the accountability and effective use of public resources by public entities. Every year, the Office of the Auditor General publishes the audit reports of the county executive and assembly for all the 47 counties.
