The Governors Compass Guide acts as a guideline for transition of power and duty for outgoing and incoming governors, county executive committee members, county assemblies members and all other county staff. It serves as a guide to create a solid administrative foundation for the governor’s entire term in office. This compass provides insights to newly elected Governors not only to plan and professionally transcend the current transition period but also serve as the springboard to plan for a seamless transition during and after the next general election. Drawing o Kenya's 2017 gubernatorial transition experience, it covers financing of a transition, relationship with the outgoing governor, essential elements that go into a brief for the new governor and his/her staff and key issues newly elected governors should focus on.
